Girl kidnapped, killed by school mate

Haridwar, Dec 5, 2012 (PTI):

An eight-year-old girl was kidnapped and killed allegedly by her teenage school mate, who had demanded a ransom of Rs 3 lakh from the victim's parents for her release.

The 18-year-old accused, who is a Class XII student in the same school where the girl studied, was arrested after his phone, which he used to make the ransom call, was traced through surveillance, police said.

The youth, son of a police constable, has confessed to his crime and based on the information provided by him, the decomposed body of the girl was recovered from a nearby forest, said special task force in-charge N S Bisht.

The girl had gone missing from school yesterday and her family members had received a phone call demanding Rs 3 lakh for release, Bisht said.
